From the Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery comes the A Manual of the Hours of the Orthodox Church, Pocket-sized (5 1/2" X 4 1/4") with laminated covers and wire spiral, lay-flat binding.  83 pages, and contains the essential prayers for Orthodox prayer.  This manual was compiled originally in Greek by the late Archimandrite Cherubim, founder and abbot of the Monastery of the Paraclete, Attica, Greece.

It contains abridged selections from the fixed prayers of the Church for the 24-hour period to make it easy for lay people to pray the hours whether at home or at work.  Light and Life Publishing Company wrote about this manual: "This pocket-size prayer book is a gem!" An article in the Russian Orthodox Journal referred to it as "Useful and well-edited...user-friendly..."  New edition completely reset with corrections. Those wishing to supplement these abbreviated services with a fuller use of the Psalms and Canticles, may want to consider using the Kathisma Psalter.

From the Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery comes the new Kathisma Psalter with the Nine Canticles, Revised According to the Septuagint is 192 pages with a brief annotated bibliography and kathismata schedules.  The cover is laminated, with wire-o lay-flat binding. 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"  This book is a copy of the Psalter with the Nine Canticles put together by the sisters for their own use.  The texts normally used in the official publications of the Orthodox Church in America were their basis.  They have revised the psalms and canticles in two ways: First, they have revised the content to accord with the Greek Septuagint. This has helped them become more aware of the many scriptural references in the liturgical hymns of the Church, including most of the Prokeimena, which are based on the Septuagint readings.  The second revision has involved largely replacing vocabulary that is no longer part of our own language, such as the vocative "O," "Thee" and accompanying verb forms.  Users of both our popular Manual of the hours and The Royal Hours of the Orthodox Church will find this style familiar.  These Psalms will enrich the use of the Manual.
